Operation Backpack 2010

Volunteers of America Operation Backpack 2010

THANK YOU!

The Greater Sacramento-area community has done it again! Thanks to the support of the many individuals, groups and companies who made Operation Backpack a priority this year, Volunteers of America Greater Sacramento & Northern Nevada has exceeded its record-breaking 2009 total. As of Aug. 9, more than 4,000 backpacks have been donated.

Special thanks to our 2010 Operation Backpack sponsors: Tri Counties Bank, KCRA 3, PG&E, Sacramento River Cats, and Thunder Valley Casino Resort. Thanks also to Starbucks, for providing more than 100 drop-off locations.

Still want to donate?
If you have a new backpack or school supplies to donate, we certainly will continue to accept them. You may drop them off at the Volunteers of America administration office at 1900 Point West Way, Suite 270, Sacramento. Our office is open 8 a.m. to 4:30 p.m. Monday-Friday. For more information, call 916.442.3691. To make an online financial contribution, click here.

More about Operation Backpack
While Operation Backpack began as a drive to collect backpacks and school supplies for the children of Volunteers of America clients, it has since expanded to provide not only for the children of our homeless shelters and transitional living programs, but for youth served by many of our fellow social-service agencies, as well as school districts, throughout the Greater Sacramento area. Such beneficiaries as the Sacramento Food Bank and Wind Youth Center joined us in 2009 for "Pick a Pack Day," the kick-off to our distribution process.
