Winter Sanctuary now open for homeless men, women
Volunteers of America, Sacramento Steps Forward and the area's faith community have joined forces and resources to once again offer the homeless nightly refuge and hot meals during the coldest months of the year. Thanks to a donation by Wells Fargo, funding is secured through March.
Volunteers of America Celebrating 100 Years in Sacramento
In 1911, 15 years after its founding, Volunteers of America opened a Sacramento office. In commemoration of our centennial, an anonymous donor has made a commitment to match this year's Shelter from the Storm fundraising efforts (to $200,000)! Volunteers of America Greater Sacramento offers a continuum of care that includes: homeless services and emergency shelters; transitional housing and job-development programs for families, singles and former foster youth; residential alcohol- and drug-treatment centers; a safe house for abused and neglected seniors; veteran services; permanent supportive services for disabled adults; and affordable-living apartment complexes for families and seniors. - Nevada Services
Volunteers of America/ReStart Inc. Services in Northern Nevada include a trio of emergency shelters at the Community Assistance Center (men's, women's and family), as well as mental health and homeless prevention programs.
